Paper bags have become fixed items

White paper bags have become an essential part of our daily life. When we shop at the supermarket, we need to take things home in paper bags. When you go out to eat, you can use paper lunch bags to pack your food. The brand will add a unique logo on the paper bag to pack the goods. And we can use the paper gift bags to contain our presents. In addition, tiny paper bags fill people's needs. Paper bags, baskets, bowls, and other containers become storage solutions for every home and store. As you can imagine, the invention of a convenient, disposable container was revolutionary. Business owners can store stacks of these bags in their stores, and their low cost and ease of use make them easily available to shoppers, even the average shopper.

The history of paper bags

The large paper bags look ordinary, but can win a place in the hearts of consumers. A review of the evolution of paper bags reveals several key factors. For centuries jute,  sacks of jute, canvas, and Burlap were the chief means of loading and transporting goods in the British Empire. The main advantage of these materials is that they are strong and durable, but their production is time-consuming and expensive. However, on the other hand, the paper bags cost low, soon cheap paper bags became the preferred material for paper bags.

Paper bags have undergone many reforms since their introduction in the 19th century. At 1852, Francis Våler invented the first machine to mass produce paper bags. Unlike today's paper bags, Wall's looks more like a large mailing envelope. His machine was the catalyst for the mainstream use of paper packaging.

The next step in the evolution of paper bags came from Margaret Knight, a prolific inventor who worked for an paper bag company. When you go home with food from the supermarket, or buy new clothes from a department store, you are enjoying the fruits of Knight's Labor. While she was working, she found that square bottom pockets, rather than VOLX's envelope design, would be more practical and efficient. Then she invented the paper bag making machine, a great invention that paved the way for the wide use of paper bags. The invention also brought her huge profits. Margaret Knight chose to resign and start her own company.

And then Charles Stillwell designed the pleated sides , an effective addition. The paper bag can be folded up for easy storage. Stillwell, as a mechanical engineer in the paper bag industry, his designs are known as sos bag , or "self-opening bag" or something.

In 1918, two St. Paul Grocery Stores, Lydia and Walter Deubener, came up with an idea to improve on the original design. Deubeners found that customers could punch holes in the sides of paper bags and reinforce the handles and bottom with rope, each carrying nearly 20 pounds of food. Food delivery paper bags proved to be an important innovation in an era when cash-and-carry groceries replaced home delivery.
